Ibiza sunsets is small collection of pictures taken from the area around my hotel when visiting Ibiza in July 2014. The hotel was the Club Vista Bahia on the outskirts of Portinatx, Northern Ibiza and whilst the hotel was quite poor and I believe has now closed the views of the sunsets over the ocean made up for that.
The pictures below which can also be seen and purchased from Clickasnap were taken using a Polaroid is2132 bridge camera.

The nation's Shrines is a short video I recently uploaded to YouTube featuring a collection of 25 cigarette trading cards from a collection released in 1929 called the nation's Shrines. Each card is an image of an historic place from either England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales and the complete set if featured in the video. They were released by Player's Cigarettes.
The images feature a number of abbey's, Cathedral's, Castle's and other places of interest in the United Kingdom. Sadly Kenilworth Castle is missing, the video software only aloud a brief glimpse of it between John Milton's cottage and Manorbier Castle. The pictures below are the ones that feature in the video. The break down of places represented is 17 sites from England, 3 from Wales and Ireland and 2 featured from Scotland. In this modern age i'm sure that split would be a bit more representative and certainly feature a few more sites of interest from the Celtic nations.
Standing sentinel on Midgley Moor, overlooking the breathtaking Calder Valley, is a stone steeped in history and legend. Known by many names – Churn Milk Joan, Churn Milk Peg, and Nelmires Stoop – this imposing 7ft monolith has watched over the valley for centuries, its origins shrouded in time.
First recorded in the 17th century, the stone is believed to have served as a boundary marker, a silent witness to the ebb and flow of life across the moors. But its more colourful name, Churn Milk Joan, didn't appear until the early 1800s, and with it came a tale as chilling as the moorland wind.
Local legend whispers of a milkmaid, caught in a ferocious snowstorm, who tragically froze to death while crossing the treacherous moor from Peckett Well to Luddenden. They say the stone was named in her memory, a poignant reminder of the harsh beauty and unforgiving nature of the landscape.
But Churn Milk Joan isn't just a monument to tragedy. It's also a source of local folklore and superstition. Legend has it that placing a penny in the hollow atop the stone will bring you good luck. And if you're brave enough to venture to the moor on New Year's Eve, you might witness a truly magical spectacle. They say that as the bells of St. Michael's Church in Mytholmroyd echo across the valley, the stone itself spins three times! A captivating thought, especially considering the stone predates the church by a couple of hundred years. What secrets has it witnessed in its long vigil?
So, the next time you find yourself exploring the Calder Valley, take a detour to visit Churn Milk Joan. Stand in its shadow, feel the wind whipping across the moor, and let your imagination wander. Is it just a boundary marker? A memorial to a lost milkmaid? Or a magical stone with the power to grant good fortune? Perhaps it's a little bit of all three, a testament to the rich tapestry of history and folklore woven into the very fabric of the Yorkshire landscape.

I am currently working through my collection of pictures and postcards I have purchased and slowly posting about them here. Due to the current lockdown restrictions around Corona in the UK I have not been able to get out much with my own Camera.
The first one was in a sleeve with the note St Louis and Illinois Bridge disaster. Eads Bridge.
The 2nd picture featured today was titles "Outdoor Games at the Organ Festival" and was taken in Sweden during the 1920's

Old Photo's of Brotton.
Brotton is a village in the borough of Redcar and Cleveland in the North of England. Their has been a settlement here since before the Domesday Book was completed in 1086 and name Brotton means Brook Farm. The village has a population of approx. 5400 which is a largely down on it's peak which was when the area was given over to the mining of ironstone, this decreased in the early part of the 20th century and the last mine closed in 1954. The pictures are postcards I have collected or public domain .
Old Skipton in Picture Postcards.
Skipton is a market town in North Yorkshire, it has a population of approx. 14600 and is passed through by the River Aire, Leeds and Liverpool Canal, and the Airedale Railway Line. These pictures were again put together using postcards I have collected.
Walsden in Pictures.
Walsden is a village in the Metropolitan Borough of Calderdale, West Yorkshire. It has a population of approx. 5200 and is passed through by Walsden Water which flows in to the River Calder, the Rochdale Canal, the A6033 Rochdale Road and the town has a Railway Station on the Caldervale Line. Although now part of West Yorkshire, Walsden was historically part of Lancashire and administered by Rochdale Corporation. All the pictures were taken by me in August 2017.

These are a set of short recordings taken by my daughter and me whilst in Lanzarote whilst on holiday there in 2013. At the time I had just started to take an interest in photography and I had never filmed anything in my life, but I wanted some memories of the holiday and some of the places we visited so gave it a go. They were filmed using a Samsung Galaxy Tablet.
The first clip was filmed from the Penas Del Cache, the highest public viewing point on Lanzarote, their is an area of the island that was a little higher but if my memory is correct it was only accessible by the military.
The area I was filming from was a car park for a restaurant and offered unobstructed views down to sea level approx. 670 metres below, I was on an organised trip of the island during the day. It's a popular destination for stargazers as there is limited light pollution and in the summer season the constellations of Sagitarius and Scorpius stand out.
The following clips were taken on a visit to the Aquarium Lanzarote. Situated in Costa Teguise a short walk from the hotel we were staying at.
The Aquarium was not overly large but was an enjoyable experience. Whilst having many different species of marine animals they do try to concentrate on the ones more local to the Canary Islands.
The following clips were taken at the Rancho Texas Park. The animal park has a couple of daytime shows featuring sea lions and birds of prey, not together.
The following clip was taken at Timanfaya national park.

Visited in July 2013, the Aquarium Lanzarote is an aquatic museum featuring 33 tanks and over 1 million litres of water. The tanks feature mainly sea life native to the Canary Islands including clown fishes, blowfishes, sea urchins, sharks and turtles. the aquarium can be found near the centre of Costa Teguise in the east of the island. I took a number of short videos whilst touring the aquarium and they can be seen below and on YouTube. They were filmed using a Samsung Galaxy Tablet.
Uploaded to YouTube on the 4th August 2013, currently seen 379 times. The video features a 3 legged turtle swimming around.
Uploaded to YouTube on 10th August 2013, the video has to date been viewed 2668 times. It features a shark swimming.
The final video uploaded to YouTube in August 2017 and seen 41 times to date shows all the clips put together of the sea life in their tanks.

One of my hobbies is the sport of Rugby League, I am a supporter of Halifax RLFC, who recently changed there name to Halifax Panthers. The club has had it's success throughout it's history being league champions 4 times and challenge cup winners 5 times. Since relegation from Super League in 2003 the club has been a mainstay of the championship. It was from the recent decision by Super League to refuse re-entry to the competition to Toronto Wolfpack and open up a bidding process to clubs from the championship to enter super league and league ones clubs to enter the championship that I started to have a look at the grounds of the League 1 clubs.
From this interest the idea of creating a short video of each clubs ground from the air was born, originally I had planned to only show the league 1 clubs grounds, but found I had enjoyed the process as it differed from what I normally put together so I then completed videos of all the Championships clubs and Super League clubs home stadia.
League 1.
League 1 currently features 10 clubs, with future admissions possible from a reborn Toronto Wolfpack, Ottawa Aces, New York City, Belgrade, Valencia, Bristol and Liverpool, Ottawa the only confirmed one for 2022. For the 2021 season the league will be made up of Barrow Raiders, Coventry Bears, Doncaster RLFC, Hunslet Hawks, Keighley Cougars, London Skolars, North Wales Crusaders, Rochdale Hornets, West Wales Raiders and Workington Town.
Championship.
Probably the most competitive league in the British rugby system where a good start to the season could see any one of the 14 clubs either promoted or relegated. The 2021 season will see Batley Bulldogs, Bradford Bulls, Dewsbury Rams, Featherstone Rovers, Halifax Panthers, London Broncos, Newcastle Thunder, Oldham RLFC, Sheffield Eagles, Swinton Lions, Toulouse Olympique, Whitehaven RLFC, Widnes Vikings and York City Knights do battle.
Super League.
The Super League is the highest level of rugby league competition in the UK and the 2nd highest worldwide. After the ejection of Toronto Wolfpack, Leigh Centurions were promoted to level the competition to 12 clubs for the 2021 season and the rest are, Castleford Tigers, Catalans Dragons, Huddersfield Giants, Hull FC, Hull Kingston Rovers, Leeds Rhinos, Salford Red Devils, St Helens RFC, Wakefield Trinity Wildcats, Warrington Wolves, and Wigan Warriors.

The current Covid pandemic has made it hard to get out with my camera since the start of the first lockdown last March in the United Kingdom, so I am currently taking an opportunity to work my way through sets I have already taken over the last decade, some slides I have acquired and some postcards I own too.
Todays post features 5 postcards from around the world, 4 of which were posted and 2 are from the same resort.
Sandman Motel.
The Sandman Motel is roadside stop in the city of Santa Rosa, California, an area famous as wine country.
The card was sent to the management and staff of the Manor Hotel, Yeovil in August 1977 and the both hotels still trade now some 44 years later.
Turtle Beach Hotel, Watamu, Kenya
This card again features a hotel and was posted, sadly the date is hard to make out.
Tangier, Morocco
This card was never posted and has no writing to give any indication of date.

Part of a set I bought, both of these Kenyan cards above were included in the sale, this one appears to have been posted in February, but like the other the date is hard to make out completely. Though it has the same image as above I thought the text may be of interest so decided to share both.
Singapore
The final postcard for this post features a set of 3 images of Singapore.

I have recently been going through some of my postcard collection with the intention of selling a few off, and whilst in the process of sorting and listing I thought it might be of interest to feature some of the postcards on here. Todays selection is 2 from Lancashire and 1 from Cheshire, all counties in the north of England.
Blackpool.
The card although unwritten and undated was probably from the 1950's and was published by Sandman Brothers of Blackpool. The images features are of Blackpool Tower, a gondola, Starlight Parade and Gynn Gardens.
Chorley.
The Chorley Postcard was posted in 1986 and is a typical example of a 1980's quite boring postcard. The card features images of St Marys Church and Chorley Town Hall.
Compstall.
Compstall is a suburb of Stockport in Cheshire and although it has been written on, it appears to have never been posted. The images are names as the Watermeetings, and the Aquaduct and Viaduct.

Part of my collection of postcards is this set of 3 featuring mixed images of Southsea and Hayling Island, both areas to the south east of Portsmouth, England. All 3 have been posted and still have the stamps attached.
Postcard 1 Southsea.
This card features a set of images including the Rock Gardens, Beech and Canoe Lake, HMS Victory moored at Portsmouth and South Parade Pier. It was posted on the 14th June 1967 to the Daily Mirror and includes the following intriguing text "Don't you trust my judgement then". I'm guessing it was something to do with tips for horse racing or greyhound racing.
Postcard 2 Hayling Island.
This card features 9 images of the area and was posted on the 24th June 1965 to Scotland. The scenes included are Sandy Point, Salterns Creek, the Beech, a general view of the island, the Boating Lake, Eastoke Bungalow Town, the Ferry and Manor Road.
Postcard 3 Southsea.
The final postcard is another from Southsea and features 7 images from the area. It was posted on the 22nd September 1960, sadly I can't make much of the writing out. The images show South Parade Pier, the Miniature Railway, HMS Victory, the Rock Gardens, the Canoe Lake and the Hole in the Wall, Sallyport, Portsmouth.
